Text Box: Survival for Winter Using Help From Habakkuk

We choose to live in Canada.  A country when the festivities of the Christmas season  quickly pass into memories and the dark bleak months of Jan. Feb. March, and sometimes even into April cover us.

The snowbirds move south to the warmth of the sunshine states.  The skiers and the skaters love the winter, but for those of us  who remain in Canada, we worry about the dangers and hazards of the ice and snow season

There is an emotional freedom technique is based on Habakkuk 3:17-19.  Maybe this passage from Habakkuk can  help you out when facing difficult situations.  Sometimes, in life,  all that’s needed is a change of perspective.

Repeat these choices over and over again to yourself and God and before I know it you’ll feel so much better.  Feelings of depression vanished.

When you  find yourself feeling depressed, you are faced with two choices:  you can choose to dwell on

· The trees are bare

· The weather is cold and damp

· The sky is grey and dismal

· My parents aren’t well

· My children and                  grandchildren are far away

· I want to go south till April

· Or hibernate and wake up when winter is over

· And I can’t do either

Or you can choose:

· To rejoice in God

· To be joyful

· To sing songs of praise and thanksgiving

· To remember God’s miracles

· To count all my blessings

· To name them one by one

· To give God praise

· To lift up His Name

· To dwell on those things that are good, lovely, worthy of praise and of good report

· To fix my eyes on God

· To bless His name

· To speak Words of Life

· To encourage myself in God

· To parent myself lovingly

· To meet my own needs

· To put my trust in God

· To surrender to God’s will, plan and purpose

· To accept the world as it is, not as I would have it

· To change the things I can.

1. my attitude,

2. my behavior,

3. my thoughts,

4. my feelings,

5. my speech

· To give thanks for all the millions of things God has done for me.

Try it in those dull doldrums of a long winter. Try to change your perspective, you just might like it.

God bless you this winter    season.
