Worship Style

Sunday Morning Worship is conducted in a traditional Presbyterian manner. Presently there is a single service each Sunday, at 10:30 a.m.

The hymns we use are taken from the 1972 Presbyterian Book of Praise. The contents of this book include the Psalms as well as the rich musical history of the church universal.

The Senior Choir of St. Andrew's adds a ministry of music from a wide range of sources, including the masters (Bach, Mozart, etc.), and traditional church anthems, as well as some modern composers.

During the worship, we endeavor to address particular attention to the young people, in the form of a children's story from the minister. This story helps to educate the children, helps them realize their importance as people of worship, and affords the opportunity for the children and the minister to build a special relationship of trust with each other.

The sermon is based strongly on Scripture, and communicates the relevancy of God's Word to our situation in today's life and society. It is important to have God's guidance in our personal relationships, in our family lives, and in our daily contacts with people. The sermon is a means to hear God speaking to us through His Word and giving us the guidance we need.

Coffee Hour takes place in the auditorium (downstairs) immediately following the 10:30 service. Please join us for fellowship and refreshments. An elevator is available for access to the lower level.

Parking is available in the library parking lot, down the hill on High Street, as well as on Stavebank Road. You can enter the church through main doors at the south side, or via the side door on Stavebank Road.

Nursery care is available in our well-equipped nursery on the main floor during the 10:30 service. Presently, supervision is provided by volunteer parents.

Sunday School classes are provided for children from kindergarten to high school. The children can sit with their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the service. Just before the minister's children's story, the children will be asked to come to the front of the church. When the story is finished, they are taken to their classes. Parents can collect their children from their classes, or meet up with them in the auditorium for coffee hour. Classes for high school and grades 7-8 are held on the upper level. Kindergarten through grade 6 classes take place downstairs. Parents are welcome to accompany their children downstairs.
